★Does the murderer know they are the murderer?
No, you will not find out who the murderer is till the very end. This also includes you, as your character may be guilty, but you will not be aware of it in advance to ensure that you can still participate in the action.
★Can I reuse the experience or do I need to purchase it again?
You can reuse your downloadable party as often as you like, however immersive and bespoke options are one-offs.
★What is the minimum age to participate?
While there is no set minimum age, we would recommend 16 and above for our murder mysteries. For more information regarding parental guidance, please click here.
★I would like to purchase a party for my child’s birthday, what are my options?
The best option here would be to select one of our available children’s celebrations based on our signature mysteries. Alternatively, we can adapt any of our existing themes or create a unique story, so please do contact us to find out more about our bespoke options. For maximum impact during your party, we also have on our books leading children’s actors and a magician who are all DBA certified. ★Do the downloadable parties have expiration dates?
Great news, our downloadable parties never expire!
★Can I organise a Digital Murder Mystery as a surprise party?
Absolutely! We would just advise that you give the person being surprised a little notice to plan their costume, or even better, provide it for them or enlist the help of an accomplice (such as their partner) to prepare it.
★Can couples be one character?
For downloadable and immersive events, we would advise that couples are each their own character, however they can still connect to their party through the same device.
★Can we have spectators?
While it may seem like a great idea to include more people who may not necessarily want to take part, do be mindful that involving spectators can at times be awkward. As well as their non-involvement in the mystery, their presence or even intervention could also throw off your host if you are in the midst of an immersive event.
★You describe your events as parties, evenings and soirées: does this mean I have to host my celebration after a certain time?
Absolutely not! Describing our events as parties, evenings and soirées simply allows us to distinguish between the packages we offer. Your party can be held at any available time, 24/7.
★Is dress-up compulsory?
Definitely not - but adding a little flavor always helps get you and everyone else in the mood. Our immersive packages come with mood boards and styling tips, but how far you decide to go is up to you!
★How many people need to take part?
You need a minimum of 6 people and can host a maximum number of 24. We can absolutely add more characters for our bespoke packages however.
★Can I change the theme after I have purchased it?
If you’ve received any materials, then unfortunately no. If you’ve purchased an immersive package and have yet to fill in your welcome form (in which you choose your date and time, and have the option to choose characters) then we can swap it out. Please contact us to discuss your requested change.
★Can I create a bespoke theme?
Absolutely! We love working with clients to come up with themes and stories unique to them. Please contact us and we can set up a time to discuss in more detail what you’re looking for.
★How long will my chosen mystery last for?
Your mystery will last for approximately 60 minutes, depending on your group (and group size). For downloadable parties, these can go longer if you choose as you and your guests are in full control!
★What do I need for the experience?
All you need is an active internet connection! For downloadable parties the host receives all materials and sends them out to guests. For immersive evenings, all we need are the guests emails and your date/time, and we take care of the rest! All parties are hosted via The Digital Murder Mystery Co.’s video call account.
★Which device can I connect from?
You can connect to your party from any device, but we suggest using a laptop or computer for a better viewing experience.
★Which countries can join in?
You can join from anywhere! So long as you can access your video call link, you can access your party.
★Can we login from several locations?
Absolutely! That is exactly why we created the business, to ensure that you and your guests, no matter where you are, can be together.
★Can I use any platform for the downloadable party?
As you are hosting, you can choose any platform you like best. Just be mindful that certain platforms have time limits (especially if you don’t have an account), so just make sure not to be forcibly logged off!
★What other languages can you create the murder mysteries in?
Great question! We can create downloadable parties in any language, and can perform immersive evenings in French, Spanish, Italian, Greek, German, Polish, Japanese and English. Is your language not there? Please contact us and we will do our best to help. Kindly note that there is an additional fee for foreign language adaptations.
★How do I host a Digital Murder Mystery?
After purchase of your downloadable party, you’ll receive everything you need to host your party. You can check out our Downloadable page for more details on how it works, but in a nutshell, we’ll set you up with a video call link for your party and a PDF with everything else you’ll need.
★It's my first murder mystery - how does it work?
Welcome! First and foremost, you and your guests will each receive a complete story, personal character profiles (including background), clue(s) to share and your possible motive to murder the recently deceased. Someone in your group has committed the murder, and it’s up to you to figure out ‘whodunnit’. In a downloadable party, your host will reveal certain pieces of evidence that spark conversations in rounds. For immersive evenings, our actor host will guide you through the pieces of evidence, along with a magical pop-up performance.
